Connected While Apart
A Story of Joy

In the church, the color for the season of Advent is purple with the exception of the Third Sunday of the Season, the Sunday of Joy.  The church’s color for joy is a rose-colored pink like that above.

Dear Mayfield,
Pause for a moment with these words from Robin Wall Kimmerer regarding joy:

Even a wounded world is feeding us.  Even a wounded world holds us, giving us moments of wonder and joy.  I choose joy over despair.  Not because I have my head in the sand, but because joy is what the earth gives me daily and I must return the gift.

In the church we recognize the ever present conversation and intersection of joy and despair.  That conversation and intersection will be emphasized in Sunday’s Advent invitation:  “The Invitation to Enter the Pattern of the Tides.  In the meantime, use the link below to listen to a story of joy read by Molly, a story of the wounded world holding and giving moments of wonder and joy, a story too of the ever transformative, growing power of joy. Consider what promise you or I or we might make to joy.
Peace, Martha
