Gathering Hymn
Hush, Hush, Somebody’s Calling My Name
African-American Spiritual

Hush, hush, somebody’s calling my name.
Hush, hush, somebody’s calling my name.
Hush, hush, somebody’s calling my name.
O my God, O my God, what shall I do? What shall I do?

Sounds like Jesus, somebody’s calling my name.
Sounds like Jesus, somebody’s calling my name.
Sounds like Jesus, somebody’s calling my name.
O my God, O my God, what shall I do? What shall I do?

I’m so glad, trouble won’t last always.
I’m so glad, trouble won’t last always.
I’m so glad, trouble won’t last always.
O my God, O my God, what shall I do? What shall I do?

Scripture
Matthew 16: 15-18

15Jesus said to them, “But who do you say that I am?” 16Simon Peter answered, “You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God.” 17And Jesus answered him, “Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah! For flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but my Father in heaven. 18And I tell you, you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church…

Re-Gathering Hymn
Standin’ in the Need of Prayer
African-American Spiritual

It’s me, it’s me, O Lord, standin’ in the need of prayer.
It’s me, it’s me, O Lord, standin’ in the need of prayer.

Not my mother ort my father, but it’s me, O Lord, standin’ in the need of prayer.
Not my mother ort my father, but it’s me, O Lord, standin’ in the need of prayer.

It’s me, it’s me, O Lord, standin’ in the need of prayer.
It’s me, it’s me, O Lord, standin’ in the need of prayer.

Not my deacon or my leader, but it’s me, O lord, standin’ in the need of prayer.
Not my deacon or my leader, but it’s me, O lord, standin’ in the need of prayer.

It’s me, it’s me, O Lord, standin’ in the need of prayer.
It’s me, it’s me, O Lord, standin’ in the need of prayer.

Pastoral Prayers

Lord’s Prayer
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name;
thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.<
Give us this day our daily bread, and
forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors,
and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil;
for thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever and ever.
Amen.

Closing Hymn
We Are Not Our Own
Melody: Yarnton, Lyrics: Brian Wren/p>

We are not our own, Earth forms us,
Human leaves on nature’s growing vine,
Fruit of many generations, seeds of life divine.

We are not alone, Earth names us,
Past and present, peoples near and far,
Family and friends, and strangers, show us who we are.

Through a human life God finds us,
Dying, living, love is fully known,
And in bread and wine reminds us, we are not our own.

Therefor let us make thanksgiving,
And with justice, willing and aware,
Give to Earth and all things living, liturgies of care.

And if love’s encounters lead us,
On a way uncertain and unknown,
All the saints with prayer surround us, we are not alone.

Let us be a house of welcome,
Living stone upholding living stone,
Gladly showing all our neighbors, we are not our own.

Benediction

Postlude
