Sunday School Car Wash to Benefit the Monarch Waystation
This Sunday June 10 our children will be washing cars after worship. All proceeds from their free will offering car wash will be directed to this season’s expenses in the Mayfield Monarch Waystation. Go home with a clean vehicle and the joy of supporting this wonderful connection to the earth around us.
Father’s Day Offering
This year’s Mother’s and Father’s Day offerings are united by the theme of Younger and Older. Our “younger” offering for Mother’s Day benefited Hearts to Art, a special interdisciplinary arts camp, based in Chicago, for children and young people ages 7-14, who have experienced the death of one or more parents. That offering totaled $700. Our “older” offering for Father’s Day will be given to DeKalb County Rehab (DCR). Throughout the year, organizations across the county are invited to send financial gifts to DCR so they can use that support for special needs of some of their residents whose financial resources are very limited. You are invited to contribute $5 for each man you would like to remember or honor this year. The sheet on which to record your offering accompanies this memo. There are also copies of it in the Gathering Area at church. Please have your names to the church office by Wednesday, June 13, so they can be published in our June 17 worship bulletin. Special Mother’s and Father’s Day offerings at Mayfield are a longstanding and treasured tradition.
June 14 Mayfield Fellowship Program and Other Dates – Mark Your Calendars
On June 14 we will be at Mayfield in the Monarch Waystation. We will have box lunches, ordered ahead of time, and will have an opportunity to participate in a project to enhance and ready the Waystation for the July 14 DeKalb County Garden Walk. Use the signup sheet in the Gathering Area to indicate which box lunch you would like to order. There is an envelope there for your payment too. August 9 JT will host us at the Prairie State Winery where we will have a tour of this local business and also purchase lunch. On October 11 we will be at Oakcrest. We will share lunch in their dining room and have an informative program provided by Safe Passage. Our annual Christmas meeting will be held on December 13 at Wilma and Rita’s. Bring a dish to share and board books for the Children’s Waiting Room. At this meeting we will divide the money collected by the Fellowship during the year among various agencies and programs in DeKalb County, hear a Christmas story, and participate in a robust rendering of the 12 Days of Christmas.
Canoe/Kayak Time on the Kish and Picnic at Phyllis’ Farm
On Sunday afternoon, June 17, we will put into the Kish at 1 pm and will begin to eat around 3 pm. Come for the whole afternoon or just the picnic. Bring a side dish or desert to share. This is a treasured intergenerational time in our year. Who would you like to invite to join us? Please use the sign-up sheet at church to indicate you are coming, how many are in your party, and what you are bringing. These numbers are important to make sure we have enough canoes.
June Church Council Meeting is Wednesday, June 20 at 6:00 pm.
Mayfield Members and Friends
This summer your Deacons – Jan, Karen, and Theresa – are working on an updated version of our listing of Mayfield Members and Friends. The sheets for the current listing are laid out on a table in the Gathering Area. Check to make sure your information is included and accurate. Indicate on the sheets any additions or corrections.
