The purple cone flower is one of the most iconic prairie blooms. Wander into the Monarch Waystation and see what else is in bloom too. There are name plates throughout that let you know what you are looking at. And take a moment to sit on our sturdy and beautiful new recycled benches. Thank you for the car wash donations last Sunday. They added about $200 to the Waystation funds. We appreciated the efforts of young and old who washed vehicles and to Dawn and John for their leadership. Diana will let you know about upcoming weeding times this summer.
A Summer Day in the Woods – Saturday, June 29, 2019 – Russell Woods Forest Preserve – Potluck Lunch begins at 1:00 pm
If you have not let us know you are coming on Saturday, please be in touch with Peggy. The Council wants to make sure we have enough meat and beverage for everyone. You are asked to bring a side dish or desert and your place setting. Cups and mugs will be provided. If you would like to come out earlier to enjoy the forest preserve, you are welcome to do so. And if you are thinking about kayaking or canoeing there, you can get out at Russell Woods as long as you have made arrangements for transportation home. Russell Woods is a perfect setting for people of all ages, with plenty of activities inside and out. See you Saturday.
Father’s Day Offering – Hearts to Art
Sunday we will finish our collection for Hearts to Art, the Chicago-based summer camp for children and young people who have experienced the death of a parent. Your gifts need to be received by June 30, 2019. Thank you for your generous support.
Cliffton Needs Lincoln Pennies
Cliffton is attending an international scouting event in mid-July and is collecting lots of 2019 Lincoln pennies. The young men at this event exchange small tokens of their home area. Lincoln pennies are certainly appropriate for Illinois. If you have any 2019 pennies, please bring them to church in the next few weeks. You can donate them or trade your 2019 pennies for pennies from other years in the penny jar in the Gathering Area.
Looking Ahead – July Intergenerational Labyrinth Walk

Northern Illinois Food Bank
