The Monarch Waystation:

The Gravel Garden:

During the growing season there is considerable outdoor work around Mayfield. Diana and Sue, with periodic volunteers, head up the weekly gardening in the Waystation.  Marlo and Wilma are persistent in their determination to create beauty in the gravely earth at the south end of the parking lot. Peggy and JT take care of the mowing out back around the Waystation. For many years, various members of the Carlson family have mown out front. The land around the church is beautiful. The message to anyone driving by or stopping in for a few moments is clear: This is a place of growth, a place informed by the earth, a place where one can rest deeply in the midst of active engagement in the world. Thank you all.

Cliffton’s Pennies

This is the last Sunday to bring in 2019 pennies for Cliffton. He leaves for his international scouting event later this week. As we have all learned, 2019 pennies aren’t that easy to locate. Cliffton is grateful for all the pennies we have been able to dig up and bring in.

UCC All Church Offering – The Christmas Fund – Christmas in July at Mayfield

The Christmas Fund is one of the five UCC national offerings that we participate in. We take it as a Christmas in July offering since December is always busy with so many things. This offering, which has been in existence for over a century, supports the charitable arm of the Pension Board in these ways:  supplementation of small annuities, retiree health premium supplementation, emergency grants, and Christmas “thank you” gifts. The Christmas Fund serves clergy, lay employees, and surviving spouses/partners. More information will be shared in worship.  There will be special envelopes in upcoming bulletins. Please mark your check or envelope clearly if you are making a gift to the Christmas Fund through the end of the month. Thank you.

If anyone is looking for a volunteer opportunity, the Northern Illinois Food Bank, is always looking for new volunteers. Various volunteers offer time weekly, monthly, or periodically. Their main office and program space is in Geneva. They also have a location in Rockford. Remember, our support of the Northern Illinois Food Bank is ongoing. Gifts can be given at any time by way of the offering plate or food bank box.

No more plastic caps are needed.  Thank you!
