Dear Friends and Family of Mayfield,
The Church Council would like to make you aware that we are temporarily suspending all events at Mayfield Church. This decision is based on the direction of the State of Illinois “shelter in place” action that will be put into effect on March 21 at 5 PM. We will be communicating with our friends and family several times per week to give support.
Many of you remember these same feelings when the ceiling fell at Mayfield years ago. This time our exile will be difficult because we do not have each other to physically “lean on”. With the advent of social media and electronic communication we will be apart, but we can still stay in touch. Please feel free to reach out to other members and friends of Mayfield and let them know that you are thinking and praying for them. If you are a Facebook user, please feel free to post what you are doing and let us know how you are doing. Photos, memes and posts are great ways to connect!
Pastor Martha will continue to have a written message that will be distributed through our weekly memo, and we will also make sure that the message is available on our Facebook page and website. Thanks to Pastor Martha for the wonderful emails that have been sent this week. Each one has been a welcome distraction to the events of the day. A team of members are working on activities and devotions that we can do apart. I look forward to our friends and family communicating their reactions and reflections for these activities.
I cannot answer the question of when we will be able to worship together again. I do know that the time will pass faster because of our relationship with God, and each other. One concern that the Church Council has of course, is our budget. Please continue to support the church financially as you are able. Financial gifts can be sent to the church using the US Postal Service.

In closing, I would like to use a couple of verses from Romans 15:…Verses 5 & 6
May God who gives patience, steadiness, and encouragement help you to live in complete harmony with each other—each with the attitude of Christ toward the other. And then all of us can praise the Lord together with one voice, giving glory to God, the parent of Jesus Christ
