As we gather to celebrate 159 years of Mayfield life on Sunday, we consider all the seeds of life strewn widely in years past and those that we still can scatter and tend for the thriving of neighbors near and far and for the earth on which we stand. Celebrate with us Sunday in body or spirit. Worship is at 10 am followed by an Anniversary Brunch prepared by Becky and Theresa.

Fall Pancake Breakfast

Have attic treasures to church by tomorrow morning and baked goods by early Saturday morning. Breakfast will be served from 6:30-11:00 am.  We can still use your help if you’re available. Invite people to come. Don’t forget there will be sausage for sale too. Thank you to Angela and Dawn for their coordination of everything breakfast-related and to John for hog and sausage transport. See you Saturday.

Better Together, our fall emphasis on diversity takes us back outside to the diversity of the earth.  Diana and Martha will meet with our children in the Waystation at 9:00 am.

Neighbors in Need (NIN) – UCC All Church Offering – October 2019

Our October mission collection is for the UCC Neighbors In Need (NIN) all church offering supporting ministries of justice and compassion. This year’s theme is Love of Children. The love of children supported by this offering is addressed through justice and advocacy efforts, direct service projects funded by the UCC’s Justice and Witness Ministries, and the Council for American Indian Ministries (CAIM). The UCC has had historic connections with the Lakota, Dakota, Nakota, Mandan, Hidatasa, Arickara, and Hocak people in North and South Dakota, Wisconsin, and northern Nebraska. There are 20 UCC congregations on reservations and one urban, multi-tribal congregation in Minneapolis. Offering envelopes will be in Sunday morning bulletins for the NIN offering.

Chris’ parents, Rick and Maria, are the owners of Prairie State Winery and will be hosting a weekend-long event, October 18-20, to raise funds for pediatric cancer research. If you stop by the winery for a glass of wine, and make a donation, your wine will be half-price and the winery will match all donations during the weekend up to $10,000. Donations will be directed to St. Jude’s and Cal’s Angels.  Currently, childhood cancer
