Mayfield Memo 10042019

Today is the feast day of Saint Francis. This autumn sky photo reminds me of his canticle to the sun composed to celebrate creation. It begins with reference to Brother Sun and Sister Moon.

Better Together

Our children’s fall unit on diversity, “Better Together” continues this Sunday with the first of two weeks centered in JAMS and international diversity. Rob Stoll and Diana will be with our children in a 9:00 session in the library that will feature Rob’s African Ladies quilt.

Peanut Butter Drive is Wrapping Up

This is the last Sunday of our 2019 peanut butter drive. Thank you for your generous support and look for peanut butter cookies among others goodies on our refreshment table after worship. And remember, every Sunday gifts can be made to the Northern Illinois Food Bank through the food bank box or the offering plate.

October Mayfield Fellowship Meeting

The October Mayfield Fellowship meeting will be held on Thursday, October 10 at Oakcrest.  Ann Werhane will host us. We will gather for lunch by noon.  The charge for lunch is $12.  A program will be presented after lunch by staff from Hope Haven. We will receive an update on homelessness for youth and families in DeKalb County. Make sure to use the sign-up sheet in the Gathering Area this Sunday to indicate if you will be coming.

Also on Thursday, October 10 – National Walk To a Park Day

The Trust for Public Lands and AllTrails is encouraging us to walk to a park, or perhaps a trail, a forest preserve, a corner of our yard, open space in our neighborhood, or a beautiful country road, to relish being outside on this day. How many different places might we walk on October 10?
