The bookcase is brimming once again with a wide mix of titles for young readers. On Sunday we will dedicate this year’s books for The Bookcase Project. There is still room to add a few if yours aren’t here. Thank you for you generous support of this vital local project. Children from Two Rivers Head Start will receive their books on Saturday afternoon, May 4, and the public will be invited to share in their joy.
Cardboard Needed
We need the cardboard fronts of boxes – cereal boxes, cake mixes, granola bar boxes, cracker boxes, etc. We just need the box front, not the entire box. You can recycle the rest of the box at home. Bring them to church and leave them in the plastic container you’ll see in the Gathering Area. These box fronts will be the used for the bookmarks our children are making for this year’s book recipients. In April when the bookmarks are constructed, there will be a few jobs for willing adults who want to help too.
Don’t forget to reset your clocks tonight. We spring forward an hour overnight.
The Journey Is Home
As we continue our liturgical journey with the theme of Belong this year, we make our way through Lent with a line borrowed from Nelle Morton, The Journey Is Home. Our journey metaphor for this Sunday is Home Base. Lent began last Wednesday on Ash Wednesday. It was bitterly cold once again as we came together to worship. Those who were able to be there represented a wonderful intergenerational cross section of the congregation and held the entire Mayfield community in prayer.
Lenten Prayer
The traditional spiritual practices of Lent are prayer, fasting, and almsgiving. Mayfield children have been working hard creating prayer boxes for all of us. Pick yours up after worship tomorrow.
The April hospitality host and liturgist calendar is up. Sign up for Sundays when you can help. There are a few slots left later in March too.
