One of the most beautiful things about snow in Mayfield Township is how the wind sculpts even the smallest amounts of it into the most interesting shapes. Regarding snow and winter, don’t forget that this Saturday, January 19, is Winterfest, the annual celebration of the season at Russell Woods Forest Preserve. If you have never been, it is a spirited day for people of all ages. Peggy would love to see you there.

Worship – January 20, 2019

Please bring a wine glass with you to church on Sunday and place it on the altar as you arrive.  The glasses will form a helpful visual for the morning’s text. This is also the Sunday when we will dedicate our 2019 Church Council. New members to the Council were elected at last week’s annual meeting. Thanks are again extended to June, Rita, and Wilma who have completed their council terms and to Laura who finished up her council time last summer. And we thank Toma who is at the end of her term as our historian.

Jane Adeny Memorial School (JAMS)

In January each year we collect the scholarship money for our current student.  Annual tuition is $800. So far this month we have collected $470. As we gather in the remaining $330, please mark your contributions clearly for JAMS. This is an exciting mission commitment for us

The Bookcase Banquet

During February we always fill our bookcase with picture books for the DeKalb/Sycamore Bookcase Project. There is also a Bookcase Banquet on Thursday, February 21, 6 pm, at DeKalb High School. Tickets are $18. Mayfield has been well represented in the past at the banquet. Proceeds from the banquet provide the funds needed to purchase the wood for the 50 bookcases made annually. Please let Martha know if you are interested in going this year.

2019 Bulletins

The sign-up sheet for 2019 bulletins is in the Gathering Area and is filling up. Bulletins are $7 a week. Let’s see if we can have a sponsor for every week in 2019.
