Happy Mother’s Day!!!
There is a wonderful list of women being remembered and honored in our bulletin
tomorrow through an offering for Church World Service’s Blanket Fund.

Recent Mission Efforts

  • Last Sunday we sent off 44 board books and other books to the Children’s Waiting Room. The Mayfield Fellowship takes in a large collection of board books in December each year for the CWR. We received an urgent request a few weeks back for additional books this year. Thank you to Ann W. for delivering them on our behalf.
  • Our One Great Hour of Sharing Offering (OGHS), the first of our UCC offerings each year totaled $496 when it was gathered in during March and April.
  • Through the end of April $620 has been given for the Northern Illinois Food Bank.
  • Check next week’s memo for the Mother’s Day total for CWS’ Blanket Fund.

Flower Power

Our spring 2016 Flower Power Project raised over $600 for Mayfield. Later in the year, we will have a chance to participate in Flower Power Two. It will focus on bulbs for fall planting. We appreciate Dawn’s leadership in making this new effort happen.

Northern Illinois Food Bank

Have you made a gift to the Northern Illinois Food Bank this month? Gifts can be placed in the food bank box or the offering plate. The Northern Illinois Food Bank covers a service area of more than 7,000 miles. Every dollar that we contribute allows the food bank to purchase eight dollars of food.

Upcoming Dates

Saturday, June 10 – 2017 Bike MS: Tour de Farms, Carlson Farm. Help is needed from 6 am onward through the morning. Dawn and John are also looking for folks to help at the finish line later in the day on Sunday. See one of them for more details.

Sunday, June 18 – Mayfield Annual Canoeing/Kayaking on the Kish and Picnic at Phyllis’ Farm. We will put into the Kish at 1 pm and will begin to eat around 3 pm.  Bring a side dish or desert to share. This is an afternoon for all ages. Some of us go out on the river before we enjoy the picnic, and others just take in the picnic. There is usually a hayride too. It is a great time to introduce friends and neighbors to Mayfield. Who might you invite?

Coat Hanger Request

Do you have any coat hangers from the dry cleaner that have cardboard tubes on them? If so, let Peggy know. Those small tubes are perfect for the insides of pollinator boxes.

Thank you to Sue

Thank you to Sue Cosmos for her ongoing management of our Mayfield website. We are very fortunate that she offers her expertise to our website. The website may be found at mayfieldchurchucc.org.
